The Strategic Plan, 2020-25 of IDS, has enacted, four goals to strengthen research ecosystem of the institution. These goals are:

 Goal-1: To provide quality dental education and research facilities with a focus on ethics and morality.

 Goal-2: To provide a contemporary outcome-based curriculum in dental education matching global standards in terms of content, coverage, level, and practice.

Goal-3: To develop the essence of ethics, accountability, and morality within the young dentists for the perpetuation of quality dental education and community health.

 Goal-4: To imbibe innovation and best practices in dental research in professional dental education to promote evidence-based dentistry.

The plan also includes encouraging faculty and student exchange programs, and recruitment of research-oriented faculty members. The faculty members are motivated to conduct the research in the thrust/emerging areas and share the research findings. The faculty members share their research findings with the students at the appropriate times in the part of the academic delivery process. The faculty members bring innovation in content, coverage, level, and practice dimension of the curriculum for necessary up-gradation at their end. The students are motivated to participate in seminars and conferences and contribute to research papers and posters. The institution has implemented a code of ethics for research. The Research Committee which monitors the execution of the policy concerning research and innovations. The committee plan and execute research ethics across the institution.
